A new updated ITIL © 4 version was launched in Q1 2019 and reflects the contemporary focus on Information Technology, as a central part of the vast majority of companies. Therefore, ITIL 4 architecture now provides guidance to manage IT Service Management, ITSM, in fast growing and complex IT environments.

ITIL 4 provides guidance in Value System, Guiding Principles and working methods that are important to both IT professionals and a broad group of professionals and leaders working on the digital transformation. Students gain a basic understanding of ITIL 4 architecture, coupling to agile methods and ITSM concepts and terminology.

An important advantage that students have experienced over time is the common language that improves communication between IT professionals. And for businesses that need IT services in their value chain that are supported by ITSM practices and principles.

Prior to ITIL V3, there was an ITIL v2 that was published in 2001, which in turn was based on a first version that was a compilation of IT Service Management best practice from the 1980s onwards.

So this ITIL 4 course is based on more than 30 years of ITSM experience that has been collected, consolidated and updated by IT professionals from many different business areas.

ITIL 4 has evolved to deliver an end-to-end Digital Operating Model and Service Value Chain that covers the delivery and maintenance of IT products and services, as part of the IT that contributes to and supports the management of organizations’ business strategy


The course will cover the entire syllabus for the ITIL 4 Foundation level, including the basic ITIL processes, and provide an overview of the activities in the different phases. Participants will thus gain basic knowledge of ITIL terminology, structure, basic concepts, and understanding of the main principles of ITIL. Best Practices for IT Service Management. The course concludes with a certification, in the form of a written exam.

Prerequisites for participation

The course is for all IT staff who want to work structured and professionally with IT service and support and who want to be ITIL Foundation certified. No prerequisites other than a basic IT understanding.

Target group:

The course is relevant for IT professionals, ie service desk employees, infrastructure admins, IT managers, project managers and architects.

ITIL process managers and service owners, service and customer managers as well as internal and external ITSM consultants


ITIL4 Foundation uses teaching material in English using the original ITIL4 terms.

The exam is also only available in English.

Due to the new structure and the amount of new ITIL4 material, there is a new ITIL®4 certification test.

Students who choose to take the ITIL4 certification exam will receive an exam voucher, which allows them to complete the Certification Test at a time of their choice.

Instructor is native Danish, but in some classes the teaching may be in English if needed.
